Coming up with how much CBD to give your pet

There is often confusion surrounding CBD (cannabidiol) and there is plenty of reason for this. Unfortunately, CBD has been placed on the back burner for many years. But it is now taking a place in the spotlight.

The idea of giving your animals CBD is not a new one. The big question is how much to give your pet. There is much  research that still needs to be done surrounding CBD in general and even more that needs to be done surrounding pets. With that being said, there has been research performed that could assist our customers with whatever questions they may have. We here at Panacea Life Sciences are here to help! This blog post will try to answer any questions you may have regarding CBD and your furry friends.

CBD? What is that?

Let’s start here at the basics. What is CBD?

CBD is one of the 113 cannabinoids that are found in the Cannabis sativa plant. This cannabinoid has been found to assist in an overall wellbeing. This is often confused with the cannabinoid THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). This is the cannabinoid that inebriates users, and this is why it is considered the most heard of.

There is indeed a difference between the two. Not only does CBD not get one high, it is legal in all 50 states. This is because of the 2018 Farm Bill. This bill allows farmers across the country to grow and sell the hemp plant. The hemp plant? What is that? It is a natural variation of the Cannabis sativa plant. The hemp plant contains high amounts of CBD and at or less than .3% of THC. This .3% of THC does not have the capability to get users high.

Marijuana, however, is not legal in all of the states because of the high amounts of THC and psychoactive components. There are states that have legalized the medicinal and/or recreational use of marijuana.

Now that we understand what CBD is and what it is not, why use CBD for your pet?

CBD for pets, why?

Why did using CBD for pets even cross anyone’s mind? For the same reasons that humans have started using CBD. Here is a list:

  • Joint Health: We here at Panacea Life Sciences did our own research on this particular topic. We chose to look at dogs who have age-related movement disorders. Dogs, like us humans, develop stiff joints as they age making normal canine activities like running, getting up from a sitting position, and climbing stairs difficult. In our study, we had pet owners give their dogs CBD for four weeks twice a day. Owners described that their canines had increased mobility. This research was narrowed down to those dogs who had visible movement issues but, we can infer that it may help all dogs with joint health issues. You can read more about this here.
  • Skin health: CBD has been described to improve skin health. For pets we offer a feline CBD Cream that may help a cat’s sense of calm as well as assist with joint health as shown with dogs.
  • Sense of calm: CBD has been described to assist those who may have an overall sense of anxiousness to feel calmer. This has been described by CBD users, and pet owners who have given CBD to their animals. In another one of our studies we studied horses who had chronic discomfort, as well as feelings of anxiousness. This study is where we used horses to test the possible effects that CBD may have on their chronic discomfort or feelings of anxiousness. This was a two-week study where the horses were administered two times a day. We concluded that the use of CBD lowered the horse’s discomfort as well as produced a sense of calm.

These three reasons in particular can be deemed to be used for pets, but there are other reasons that may not adhere to animals but should be noted!

  • FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) medications: There are several FDA medications that have been approved for human use. Epidiolex is one of them. This is used to help those who get seizures from these two severe forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. Marinol (dronabinol), Syndros (dronabinol), and Cesamet (nabilone) assist those people who are going through anti-cancer treatments. It helps the nausea caused by the anti-cancer treatment to become reduced.

Dosage

The amount of CBD to be given to a pet really depends on their size and what type of animal they are. We here at Panacea Life Sciences have several different types of CBD to give to your furry friends. Our Canine Soft gels contain 5mg of THC free CBD oil. This is an easy way to make sure the amount you are giving to your pet.

We also have a CBD Canine Tincture. The tincture comes in several different MG based on the size of your dog. Therefore, the dropper will have the correct MG on it for easy administration.

Our Feline CBD Creme is easy to use as well. We also carry 50 mg CBD Equine Tablets that are easily placed in the mouth of your horse.

As a rule of thumb, we offer the advice to start with smaller amounts of CBD to see how your animal will react to it. Then slowly increase the amount when you and your pet feel comfortable. As always, we advise you to speak with your veterinarian before administering CBD to your pet.

CBD and your Pet

Like we have stated before, there is much research to be done regarding CBD in general and even more research that needs to be done surrounding pets and CBD. It is important to keep in mind that THC is something we have deemed toxic for animals. So, when looking at CBD for pets make sure the product is labeled THC free. We love our pets and we know you do too. Keeping them safe is our top priority and that is why our products go through a third-party testing to ensure their purity and potency.

How To Promote a Sense of Calm Amid Pandemic Panic

This time period we have entered is far more uncertain than most of us are used to. It is likely that many people are experiencing panic and anxiousness. What can we do to help ease these feelings? There are many ways to promote senses of calm within ourselves and those who surround us. Perhaps one of those can be Cannabidiol or more well known as CBD.

The use of CBD to promote a sense of calm may be a bit unfamiliar and you may be uncertain about it. That is why we here at Panacea Life Sciences have decided to write this blog post. We are experts surrounding CBD and we want to make sure that our customers and future customers understand what they need to know before going on their CBD journey. Can CBD truly promote a sense of calm? Read on to find the answer.

Pandemic Panic. Help!

The CDC (Centers of Disease Control and Prevention) has deemed the Coronavirus or COVID-19 as a pandemic. Now, what does that mean? A pandemic of a disease is prevalent over a whole country or world. In our case, COVID-19 has reached the entire world. The state of COVD-19 and all of the uncertainty surrounding it has put most folks in a state of panic. Most centers for gathering have been closed and only essential workers are allowed to go into work. And don’t get us started on the toilet paper fiasco.

There has been so much change within the past few weeks that it is likely that routines have been changed, many are facing concerns about the job market and social distancing. Feeling calm is not in the picture. With time, and perhaps assistance from CBD, this can change. The change will not be dramatic because we are currently in a pandemic and these feelings are natural. There are many things one can do to promote this sense of calm we are all striving for and maybe CBD can push it further. But first, we must understand what CBD is and why we would even suggest it for this.

What is Cannabidiol (CBD)? What about THC?

So, what is CBD?  CBD or Cannabidiol is one of the 113 components found in the Cannabis sativa plant. There are many described benefits surrounding CBD, but it is often confused with Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the component that gets users “high.” These two cannabinoids are both found in the Cannabis sativa plants. However, just because they are found together in the plant does not mean that they do the same thing.

CBD is legal in all 50 of the United States as of 2018. The Farm Bill allowed farmers across the country to grow the hemp plant – a type of the Cannabis sativa plant. The hemp plant differs from others because of its high percentage of CBD rather than a high percentage of THC. Marijuana on the other hand is not legal in all states and carries a high percentage of THC rather than CBD. The use and growth of marijuana is legal in few states for recreational and medical purposes. CBD has been described to bring a sense of calm to users among other uses. But, why choose CBD when there are other ways to become calm? Read on to see what we found out during research.

Why choose CBD? What can it offer?

Out of all the things out there that could help produce a sense of calm, why should one choose CBD? If you are reading this it is likely that you are more drawn to holistic ways of health. CBD is natural and can be used in many forms. What forms you may ask? CBD is made into many forms that can fit any type of daily routine.

Here are a few: CBD comes in tinctures, an oil like substance that you place in the mouth (often under the tongue) and from there it makes its way into the bloodstream and that is when a user may experience health benefits. Then there are tablets that are also placed in the mouth that rapidly dissolve and enters the bloodstream similarly to tinctures. The two options we just discussed are the two quickest ways to get CBD into your bloodstream. Other options include soft gels which are a pill-like form full of CBD. A user takes these orally and they travel to the stomach and dissolve from there where the stomach lining absorbs the CBD and then into the bloodstream. Edibles are taken the same way and go through the same process, but instead you chew it rather than swallow. There are also CBD topicals. CBD topicals are made into lotions, salves, and even creams. The CBD does not enter the bloodstream through topical application, however, benefits may be seen or felt from the pores in the skin. These tend to work best when applied liberally and often. Then there is CBD vaping, we here at Panacea Life Sciences do not advocate for CBD vaping, but it is an option. When the CBD is vaped, it enters the bloodstream through the lungs.

Now that we have explained the ways you can use CBD in your daily routine. How do we know it may help produce calmness? This study says in short, CBD has the potential to assist those with anxiety disorders. Therefore, it may assist with a sense of calmness. There is still a lot of research that needs to be done but, this small bit is promising!

Other Ways to Produce Calmness

Alright, now that you have ordered your CBD, you still need to keep calm in the meantime. What other ways are there to keep calm? There are many ways one can use to keep calm that do not involve a doctor’s visit. Here are a few:

  • Breathing Techniques: There are many breathing techniques that may assist a nervous person. Often when a person is not calm their breath becomes short and therefore inhibits the feelings of anxiousness. The next time you feel these feelings, try making your breath in and out the same length by counting. Or you can look up breathing techniques online and find one that may fit you.
  • Move: It is likely that you have heard this one. Exercise may promote a sense of calm. How you may ask? Instead of sitting in your worry, you are out moving your body and focusing on something rather than your worry. Exercising also releases endorphins or some call it the “happy hormone.” Try taking a jog or taking an online yoga class!
  • Grounding: This is an option that may even become a habit. The 5-sense grounding technique is used because it brings your thoughts back to the present and where you are physically. This way you stop thinking about your worries for a moment. Here is how you do it:
  • Acknowledge FIVE things you see around you.
  • Acknowledge FOUR things you can touch around you.
  • Acknowledge THREE things you hear.
  • Acknowledge TWO things you can smell.
  • Acknowledge ONE thing you can taste.

These are just a few things that you can do while waiting for your CBD product. You can use CBD to help enhance any of these calming exercises as well.

What other uses of CBD are there?

Besides promoting a sense of calm, what else can CBD do? Let us tell you.

  1. Skin health is one of the ways that CBD topicals may assist a user. This study used multiple tests before and after patients used the CBD topical. Their skin elasticity was tested as well as their hydration and transepidermal water loss. Photographic evidence showed that the skin health of these people had improved.
  2. There are actual medications that are used that contain CBD. They are Marinol (dronabinol), Syndros (dronabinol) and Cesamet (nabilone); they help those going through cancer treatment and are experiencing nausea as a side effect. Epidiolex helps treat and prevent seizures in those who have Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome.
  3. CBD has also shown anti-inflammatory properties. Panacea Life Sciences did a study that had pet owners give CBD to their dogs who had age-related movement issues. They described their furry friends to have become more mobile and have a higher quality of life.

These are just a few of the ways that CBD has been described to benefit people and their pets in their daily lives.

CBD and Keep Calm

How to know if CBD for dogs works?

Holistic health has continued to increase in popularity. Why is this? What parts of holistic health could assist your family’s furry friend? It is likely that you have heard of CBD (cannabidiol) or hemp. There is a good reason for this. CBD has increased in popularity just as holistic health has. Why? How are these two things intertwined? And what does this have to do with dogs? There have been several products made specifically for dogs that contain CBD. But do they really work? Perhaps! This blog post will go through and answer these questions. But first we must cover the basics. What is CBD?

What is CBD? What is THC?

There are many common misconceptions about CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). We are here to debunk them. CBD and THC are both cannabinoids found in the Cannabis sativa plant. These two cannabinoids are often found together but can be subtracted from one another. THC is the cannabinoid that has been described to get users the ‘high’ or psychoactive feeling. CBD however does not do this. There are several different accounts of CBD having the potential of providing different health benefits without the psychoactive feeling.

THC is not legal in all 50 states while CBD is. This is because of the 2018 Farm Bill. This bill allows farmers across the country to grow and sell hemp. This is because of the high amounts of CBD hemp contains and the very low amount of THC. Hemp is just a variation of the Cannabis sativa plant, as is the marijuana plant.

The marijuana plant contains much higher amounts of THC than CBD and therefore is not legal in all places. There are some places that have legalized the use and growth of the marijuana plant. Certain states have legalized marijuana for medical purposes, recreational purposes, or both. It is important to note that CBD products made from industrial hemp that are at or less than .3% THC are able to be deemed legal CBD products. This small amount of THC does not give inebriating effects.

Now, what about dogs?

Now that you know the difference between CBD and THC. How do you know it will work for your “man’s best friend?” There are a few studies out there that have had positive responses. One of them being Panacea Life Sciences study. In this particular study we chose to look at dogs with age-related movement disorders. As dogs age, joints become stiff and movement becomes limited which makes it difficult for dogs to run, climb stairs or get into a car.   In the study,  pet owners administered a THC free CBD product to their pets twice daily for four consecutive weeks. The owners were asked to evalaute through a series of questions whether their dog had increased ability to move, visible decreases in pain, and a general increase in quality of life.  Most of the pet owners described their dogs to be more mobile after being given the CBD. Which could mean that their joint health increased, and they were able to be more mobile. This is a great study that shows that CBD does have the potential to assist animals.

Now that you know that CBD may be the right choice for you and your animal, how do you give it to them?

Doggy CBD

There are several different ways to give CBD to your dog. For canines, specifically, we here at Panacea Life Sciences have two different types of products for you to choose from. We have a tincture and a soft gel. Our soft gels are full of 5mg of CBD that is THC free. Our soft gels are formed in a fish style so that you may twist off the end and administer it into the jowl directly. These capsules also contain fish oil which is beneficial for canines.

Our canine CBD tinctures come in three different mg for different sizes of canines. This way your dog is getting the proper amount for their size. These can be diluted with water poured onto their favorite treat or administered directly into their mouths.

The way that you administer the CBD to your dog is up to you and how comfortable they are! If you have a fidgety puppy, perhaps adding it to their food will do the trick. Or a more well-trained dog will take it like a champ.

What else can CBD do?

There are several reasons people choose to use CBD for themselves as well as their animals. Here are a few things CBD can do.

Skin health: CBD has been described to improve skin health. In this study they used several categories to test the skin before and after the use of CBD. It used a hydration test, an elasticity, and a transepidermal water loss test. This was all supported by the photographic evidence of the skin improvement. They found that the administration of a topical CBD ointment is a beneficial way to improve skin health. For pets we offer a feline Transdermal Cream that may help a cat’s sense of calm as well as anti-inflammatory.

May promote a sense of calm: CBD has been described to assist those who may have an overall sense of anxiousness to feel calmer. This has been described by CBD users, and pet owners who have given CBD to their animals.

Epidiolex and other FDA approved medications: Epidiolex is one of the FDA approved medications that contains CBD. It is used for two different types of epilepsy Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. This treats seizures in those who have either syndrome. Other CBD medications are Marinol (dronabinol), Syndros (dronabinol), and Cesamet (nabilone). These are used for cancer patients to decrease nausea caused by cancer-fighting medication. These approved drug products are only available with a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

Anti-bacterial: Recently, the potential antibacterial properties of CBD have come to the forefront. CBD hand sanitizer and hand cleansing creme is available to clean your hands and rid of any unwanted bacteria.

Does CBD work for dogs?

So, does CBD really work for dogs? You may have to try it yourself to see with your own eyes. As a rule of thumb, you should always speak to your veterinarian before giving CBD to your pet.

Can you take CBD for widespread discomfort and tenderness?

Fibromyalgia is a tough condition to deal with. Those who have it, have to deal with widespread aches and pains throughout their bodies, as well as many other symptoms. This leaves many looking for anything that could help provide some relief. Luckily, there are many different resources out there for people with the condition.

Starting from the beginning: what is CBD?

Like anything you may add to your daily routine, there are questions you should ask about CBD before you start using it. The biggest one is, what even is CBD? Afterall, you should know what it is that you are taking.

CBD is a chemical compound that is classified as a cannabinoid. Cannabinoids are found in cannabis plants. They are a diverse group of compounds. So far, scientists have identified over 113 of them. Despite the high number it is likely you have only heard of a handful of them at most. CBD is one of the better known cannabinoids, but there is one that is even more famous.

That cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is so well-known because it is psychoactive. That means that it creates the high that so commonly associated with cannabis plants. Because they are both cannabinoids, CBD and THC often get group together, leading many people to believe that CBD is also psychoactive. However, that is an erroneous line of thinking. CBD is not psychoactive in any way. The closest it may come to affecting your mental state, is that it may help you achieve a greater sense of calm. But it should not cause any sort of inebriation.

There are two main kinds of cannabis: hemp and marijuana. Many people use those names interchangeably; however, they are two different plants. They have a major difference that lies in the concentrations of CBD and THC. Marijuana has low levels of CBD and high levels of THC. Hemp is the opposite; it has low levels of THC (less than 0.3%) and high levels of CBD.

These differences in CBD and THC concentrations have also led to the differences in legal status between the two plants. Hemp was made federally legal in the United States in 2018. This legalization covered not just the plant, but anything made from the plant as well (like CBD extract). On the flip side, marijuana is still federally illegal. Some states have legalized it either just for medical use or in general. Either way, it is still illegal throughout most of the country.

This is just a brief overview of what exactly CBD is, but hopefully it has made you more familiar with the cannabinoid, so that we can talk about what it could offer you.

Learning more about fibromyalgia

If you are reading this article it is more than likely you already know what fibromyalgia is. But to help be sure that all of our bases are covered, let’s talk about what it is.

Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes musculoskeletal pain. It can be very difficult to deal with, creating not only discomfort throughout the body, but also effecting sleep, mood, memory. As of right now, scientists and doctors are still unsure what exactly causes the disorder. There does appear to be a genetic link, and it does sometimes appear to be triggered by infections or trauma (both physical and emotional). It is also more common in women than in men.

Normally, those with fibromyalgia describe the discomfort associated with it as an ache that lasts for over three months. However, it cannot be considered the widespread form unless it shows up in pretty much every part of the body. Some only experience it above or below the waist.

The condition also seems to have an effect on one’s ability to sleep. Even if a night’s sleep is not broken up by bouts of pain, those who have fibromyalgia still report waking up still feeling fatigued. It also appears that conditions like sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome are often associated with it.

Other symptoms tend to include things like difficulty paying attention, lapses in memory, irritable bowel syndrome, and migraines. Clearly the condition can easily make its way into almost every aspect of someone’s life.

As of right now, there is no cure for the condition. However, there are many resources and medications out there to help manage the symptoms. Sometimes those medications either do not work for someone or they are not enough. So, how could CBD help?

Does CBD mix with fibromyalgia?

Over the last couple of decades there has been a spike in the studies on what benefits CBD could offer people. These studies have looked at many different things and many have found some promising results.

There have not been many studies that have focused specifically on fibromyalgia and CBD yet. However, that does not mean that there are not any. This early study done in 2011 found that fibromyalgia patients who used cannabis reported that their symptoms were lessened.

Despite the fact that there are not many CBD studies on fibromyalgia itself, there are many that have looked at different side effects associated with the condition. For example, as we have discussed above, fibromyalgia has some very serious discomfort associated with it. This study tested CBD on the neuropathic pain experienced by some rats. They found that the CBD was greatly able to help ease the discomfort for the rats without any psychoactive effects.

Another common symptom of fibromyalgia is irritable bowel syndrome. This is an area that has been looked at pretty seriously with CBD. This study, for example, wanted to see what CBD would do with inflammation that causes irritable bowel syndrome. The researchers found that the cannabinoid was able to considerably able to reduce the inflammation, helping ease the issues associated with the condition.

While overall CBD is safe, it does not always interact well with all medications. It is best to consult with a healthcare professional before starting to use CBD.

How to take CBD

There are many options when it comes to CBD products. The extract is versatile and is easily mixed into most kinds of products. So, let’s give a brief description of some of your options, that way picking one is even easier.

Topicals

This class of CBD product includes lotions, cremes, salves, and even hand sanitizers. They are basically any CBD product that you rub on your skin instead of taking orally. These products are more likely to offer you a more localized effect, as the CBD does not enter the system like it does with oral products. This means that the effect from the CBD is not likely to move much beyond where the topical is used. These products work best when they are applied often and liberally.

Edibles

These are any food or drink that has been made with CBD extract. They are often found in the form of a fruit-flavored gummy, but they are also found as bread and teas. Edibles are very popular because they taste good and make controlling the amount you take easy. However, they are one of the slowest ways to take the cannabinoid. This is because the food or drink needs to digest before the CBD can enter the system and start its work.

Capsules & tablets

When CBD is made into pill-like products they are usually made into things like soft gels capsules and sublingual tablets. The capsules are flexible and digest quicker than regular pills. However, they still tend to take a little while to start working. The sublingual tablets tend to be a bit quicker. These you place under your tongue and allow them to dissolve. The skin under your tongue is thin, allowing things to enter the blood stream more easily.

Tinctures & oils

These are often considered the more traditional route for taking CBD. These are CBD extract mixed with a carrier oil, like palm oil. These you can take in a few different ways. One of the more popular ones is by mixing it in with food or a drink. Another good way to take it is by placing a drop directly under your tongue.

These are just broad examples of the CBD products that are available out there. There are many subcategories in each of these. Feel free to explore and figure out which one is the right CBD product for you.

There is still much research that need to be done before we can fully understand the interactions between CBD and fibromyalgia. However, the studies that have been done have shown some promising results. It may be able to offer those who struggle with this difficult condition some much need relief.

Best CBD gummies for sale; where do you get them?

It is not uncommon to hear people talk about cannabidiol (CBD), especially when it comes to gummies. It may leave you wondering, what is CBD, why do people love CBD gummies, and where can you get some good ones?

Getting the basics out of the way: what is CBD?

It is best to understand the basics before going into anything else. A good base layer of knowledge can be invaluable.

CBD is a chemical compound classified as a cannabinoid. It is among over 113 cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. It is definitely one of the most famous of the cannabinoids. However, there is a cannabinoid that you more than likely heard of before you ever heard of CBD,  tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

THC is so famous because it is psychoactive. That means that it has an intoxicating effect normally referred to as a “high.” Despite both of them being cannabinoids, CBD is pretty different. It is not psychoactive. Using a CBD product will not get the user high.

Another important distinction between CBD and THC is where they are found. Marijuana and hemp (variations of the cannabis plant) have both of the cannabinoids, but in different concentrations. Marijuana has high levels of THC and lower levels of CBD. Those high levels of THC are why marijuana is still federally illegal (some states have legalized marijuana on some level, but across the board, it is still illegal). Hemp, on the other hand, has low levels of THC and high levels of CBD. Because of that balance, hemp is legal across the United States, plus it is the main cannabis plant that CBD manufacturers use in making their products. Learn more about CBD-based medications like Epidiolex that have been approved by the FDA here.

As interest in CBD increases, so do the studies looking at the potential benefits that the cannabinoid offers. For example, many studies have looked at how CBD could affect your mental state and have found that CBD may be able to help you achieve a greater sense of calm. Other studies have looked at the ways that CBD could interact with inflammation. Most of the studies have found that CBD could be very helpful in reducing inflammation and discomfort. These are just a few of examples of the potential help that CBD could offer people. As more studies are done, the better we understand the cannabinoid and the more we understand how it could benefit people.

Why gummies?

So, why do people like CBD gummies so much. Afterall, CBD is made into many different products. What is so great about gummies?

There are a few different appealing factors to gummies. One of them is that they make it easy to control how much CBD you take. While the side effects that are associated with CBD are not very serious (generally consisting of things like fatigue and gastrointestinal upset), they are not very fun to deal with and are usually associated with taking too much of the cannabinoid. Sometimes when placing a few drops of a tincture into your mouth, you may accidentally place a drop or two more than you meant to. CBD gummies help people avoid issues like that. Every gummy is made with the exact same amount of CBD. You always know exactly how much you have taken.

Another reason is taste. Like anything that comes from a cannabis plant, CBD tends to have a rather earthy taste. Some people do not mind it, but others find it completely unbearable. Most CBD oral products, like tinctures or capsules, are made with essential oils to help with the flavor, but that does not mean that the flavor is completely gone. CBD gummies often taste just like any regular gummy candy. This not only makes it easier for people to take CBD, but it even makes it a bit of a treat.

CBD gummies do have their downsides, of course. Some people do not like taking them because they tend to be made with sugar. If you are trying to cut sugar from your diet, these are probably not the best option. Another drawback is that gummies, like all CBD edibles, tend to take a while to start working. They need to digest before the CBD can enter the system. If you are looking for a CBD product that starts working faster, tablets and tinctures are likely better options.

What to look for in CBD gummies

Now you are probably asking, “what even makes a good CBD gummy?” A better question may be “what makes a good CBD company?” Because if the company is trustworthy, then so are their products.

In order to find high-quality CBD products, you need to be willing to do a bit of research and reading. One thing that needs to be looked at are the company’s reviews. Read the reviews for the company, the products you are interested in, and the ones you are not interested in. That way you get a good idea of what quality of product they provide. It is also smart to read reviews on third party sites as well as the ones on the company’s site. This way you avoid any potential bias in the reviews.

Another thing to look into is the company’s extraction and manufacturing processes. They should be open about their extraction process. They should also be open about their testing. If a manufacturer seems unwilling to share that information, they are likely not a place to buy your CBD from. They should also have a third party test the quality of their products, as well as having in-house testing. This way they avoid potential bias in the testing.

CBD gummies are just the beginning of the world of CBD. If you are new to all of this, hopefully this article gave you a good introduction, and makes you feel more confident about exploring what CBD may have to offer you.

What’s the difference between full spectrum and isolate?

There are many questions surrounding cannabidiol (or, as it is more well known as, CBD). One of the more confusing parts about the Cannabis sativa industry would be the different strains. This is understood and this is why we here at Panacea Life Sciences will answer these questions here in this article. What is Full Spectrum CBD? What is CBD Isolate? And what is Broad Spectrum CBD? Read on to find out.

What is CBD? What about THC?

Firstly, let us talk about what CBD is and what it is not. CBD is one of the 113 cannabinoids found in the cannabis sativa plant. This particular cannabinoid is often confused with another cannabinoid, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). This is the component that gets users ‘high’ this is different from CBD, as it has no inebriating effect.

In 2018 the Farm Bill has allowed farmers across the country to grow and sell hemp legally. This is because of the low amounts of THC in hemp. While CBD is legal to grow throughout the 50 states, THC is not. When a Cannabis sativa plant contains higher amounts of THC it is deemed a marijuana plant. There are a handful of states that have legalized the use and growth of products containing higher amounts of THC. CBD has been described as having other health benefits.

Now that we know what CBD is and what it is not, let’s get to the root of the question.

What is full spectrum?

What is full spectrum CBD? Like stated earlier in the article, the Cannabis sativa plant contains 113 cannabinoids and CBD is just one of them. A full spectrum CBD product contains the entire spectrum of the cannabinoids. This includes the small .3% of THC as well. However, this amount of THC is legal and cannot get a user the ‘high’. So, if you are looking for a product that will give you all the cannabinoids, look for the label of a full spectrum product.

Isolate?

Now, what is an isolate? It is pretty self-explanatory; a CBD isolate is an isolated CBD. In this process all other cannabinoids are extracted out leaving only the CBD. If you only want to experience the potential benefits of CBD look for an isolate.

What about broad spectrum?

Broad spectrum CBD is similar to full spectrum. But instead of having all of the cannabinoids, the THC cannabinoid is extracted out. Therefore, broad spectrum gives you the entire spectrum without the .3% of THC.

What are the uses of CBD?

Now that you understand what CBD is and what it is not as well as the difference between all the strains, why use it? There are several reasons why people have begun to use CBD in their daily lives. With this being said, it is important to note that the research done on CBD is still preliminary, this is because THC has been in the spotlight for longer. However, CBD still has full potential to assist in your daily life. Here are noted reasons for using CBD:

What CBD products are out there?

Now that we know the uses of CBD. What products are available? Here is a list:

The Difference

Now that you understand the difference between a full spectrum CBD and an isolate CBD, hopefully you can begin your journey to see if CBD is right for you. What does CBD do to you?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is in many different products and sold by a many different stores these days. If you are interested in using a CBD product, you probably want to know what exactly it will do to you. This is a completely understandable question to have about CBD. It is a question you should ask about anything you want to try out. So, let’s answer this question, as well as a few others.

For starters: what is CBD?

Before we can start on what canabidiol may be able to do to you, we need to talk about what exactly canabidiol is.

CBD is found in Cannabis plants. It is a chemical compound that is known as a cannabinoid. There are over 113 of these found in Cannabis plants like hemp and marijuana.

There are many potential effects that CBD could have, several things that it may be able to do for you. However, it is important to know that of all the effects that CBD could have, a psychoactive one is not one of them. This means that it will not get you high. This is unlike another cannabinoid, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

CBD and THC often get mixed-up in people’s minds. This is likely because they are the most well-known cannabinoids. These two should not be thought of as interchangeable, though. This is because as outlined above, CBD is not psychoactive. THC on the other hand is psychoactive. It causes the high that most people associate with Cannabis plants.

CBD has gained in popularity over the past couple of years, there is a specific reason for this. Let’s talk about it while answering another question.

Is CBD legal?

This question gets asked a lot. Which is fair, considering where CBD comes from. But if that is keeping you from trying CBD, you do not need to worry. CBD products are legal, if they are derived from hemp and have less than 0.3% THC content.

All Cannabis and Cannabis-derived products have been federally illegal for quite some time. The change in this policy only came recently. In 2018 the United States Legislature passed a bill called the Farm Bill. This law among other things legalized industrial hemp across the country (if you want to know more about this you can learn about the bill in an article here). This bill defined hemp as Cannabis with less than 0.3% THC content. It says that products made with or from hemp are now legal to produce and sell.

If the 0.3% THC makes you nervous, you do not need to worry too much. It is a very low concentration of THC. It is not likely to get anyone high.

Most CBD manufacturers prefer using hemp in making their products. This is not just because hemp is federally legal. It is also because hemp is not just low in THC, it is also high in CBD. This makes extracting the cannabinoid much easier.

So, yes, CBD is legal. As long as the CBD product you use has been extracted from hemp and has less than 0.3% THC content.

What does CBD feel like?

Finally, the big question many people ask is going to be answered. Afterall, CBD is a chemical found in Cannabis plants. That sounds kind of scary, no matter how legal it is. However, recent research looking at CBD have found that CBD has the potential to do much good. Let’s look at some of these studies.

One area looked at a lot is CBD’s effect on inflammation. One study in particular looked at how CBD interacts with inflammation caused by an acute lung injury. The researchers found that it was able to help reduce the inflammation. This could mean that CBD may be able to help many people with inflammation live more comfortably.

CBD also has the potential to help with skin health. Some studies, like this one, have found that CBD may be able to help reduce sebum production. Sebum is the oil that the skin produces to help protect it and keep it soft. However, too much sebum can clog your pores and, as a result, cause acne. CBD may be able to help reduce sebum reduction. This means that it could help keep down acne. CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties may be able to help with the inflammation that comes with acne.

Another potential benefit of CBD is that it may be able to help with your state of mind. This study was trying to look at if CBD may have any antidepressant or anxiolytic effects. They did this by seeing how certain animals handled some stressful tests both with and without CBD. The researchers found that CBD helped them keep calm in the stressful tests.

One particular area of CBD that has been looked at often and holds much promise is canabidiol and epilepsy. There have been so many studies looking at CBD’s effect on epilepsy, it is difficult to pick just one to focus on. Instead, let’s look at what has come from these studies. Epileptic seizures are a scary thing to deal with. They leave many people looking for a way to help reduce or eliminate them. In 2018 the FDA approved a medication that is able to do just that. It is called Epidiolex, it is the first pure CBD-based medication to be approved by the FDA. It may be able to help calm these epileptic seizures that make life difficult for so many people.

As you can tell, canabidiol has the potential to do a lot of different things. What is outlined above is only the tip of the iceberg. It is worth looking into it and seeing what else you can find about CBD and its effects.

What different kinds of Canabidiol are there?

This may sound odd, but there are three different types of CBD used in products. Their differences are based on how many other cannabinoids and compounds are in the extract along with the canabidiol. These three kinds are full-spectrum, broad-spectrum and CBD isolate.

Full-spectrum

This kind of CBD has the highest number of additional components in the extract. It is the CBD extract as it comes out the hemp. Nothing is done to it to filter out anything. This means that full-spectrum canabidiol likely has THC in it. That is not something to worry about, because, as talked about above, the THC level in the extract cannot be more than 0.3%. As discussed above, that is not enough to get someone high.

Broad-spectrum

This CBD extract is similar to full-spectrum. It has a lot of other cannabinoids and compounds. The main difference is that broad-spectrum does not have THC in it. The appeal of broad-spectrum and full-spectrum is what is known as the entourage effect. This is when compounds work together to build up an effect (we have an article all about it here). If you are looking for the entourage effect, but the presence of THC makes you nervous, broad-spectrum may be the perfect choice for you.

CBD isolate

It might be easy to guess what exactly CBD isolate is. It is a canabidiol extract that is just CBD. All of the other compounds and cannabinoids have been filtered out, leaving only cannabidiol. This means that the effect of the canabidiol may not be as strong. It will, however, be a purer experience without the other cannabinoids and compounds.

Many CBD products come in all of the different kinds of CBD extract. This way you can find the product that works best for you. In fact, let’s talk about those different products.

What is the difference between CBD products?

CBD is very popular for a lot of reasons. One of the main ones is its versatility. It is easy to mix with many different things, so it can be made into just about any product. Some of these products are better for certain things than others. Some of these products work faster than others. So, it is good to know what to expect from the products before you start taking it.

Let’s start with the kind of product with the most options: canabidiol oral products. These are any kind of CBD product that can be take via the mouth. This includes edibles. They can be anything from gummies to pasta. People really like these because they are easy to take, taste good and easy to portion. They may take a little while to take effect as the food that is carrying the CBD needs to digest before it can start working.

Another kind of oral products are soft gels and tablets. These are capsules that are taken just like any other pill. The appeal of these is that they are easy to take and include in your daily routine. They are also likely to absorb and start working faster than edibles. There are also CBD tablets, which are dissolvable products that you place under your tongue. These enter the bloodstream very quickly.

The last kind of oral CBD products are oils and tinctures. They are one of the more common forms of CBD, as they are CBD in a carrier oil, like palm oil. You can take them either by mixing them in with food or drink. Or you can place a drop or two under your tongue.

There are also CBD topicals. These are lotions and cremes. The appeal of these is that CBD topicals are localized. They work mainly in the are that they are applied. Oral products are likely to give you a more overall effect. If you are trying to focus on a specific area of your body, topicals are likely the better option for you. They may be better for skin health and inflammation than for helping with peace of mind.

Now that you have an idea of what kind of CBD product may be the best choice for you, let’s talk about how much of it you need.

How much CBD should I take?

This is kind of a hard question to answer. This is mainly because there are many different factors to consider. CBD effects everyone a little bit differently. What may be the perfect amount for some people, may cause unwanted side effects for others.

Let’s talk about what those side effects are for a second. These side effects are not life threatening. They are, however, rather unpleasant. They tend to include things like fatigue and gastrointestinal upset. These side effects are normally associated with taking too much CBD. So, figuring out how much you should take is the best way to avoid them.

The best way to figure out how much canabidiol to take is by testing it. You should start your CBD at low levels, trying only a little bit at first. If the amount that you try does not bother you, you can start taking more. It will take time. So, you will need to be patient. This is especially true if you are trying CBD edibles. You will need to wait for the edibles to digest before you can know how it effects you.

If you had questions about canabidiol, hopefully this article has answered your questions. If anything, the main take-away from this should be that CBD has many potential effects. However, a high is not one of the effects you should expect from the cannabinoid.

There is a lot to know about canabidiol and the products which include it. There are also a lot of CBD products out there to choose from. It can be a little intense and overwhelming. CBD and management of Fragile X syndrome

Fragile X syndrome is a fairly common genetic condition that can make everyday life very difficult for those who have it. As a result, they and their loved ones are always looking for ways to make things easier. There are many resources out there for people with the condition. But recently, there have been studies that suggest another potential aid is out there: cannabidiol (CBD).

What is Fragile X syndrome?

If you sought out this article, it is more than likely that you already know what Fragile X syndrome is. However, it never hurts (and is often beneficial) to go over the basics again.

Fragile X syndrome (also known as Martin-Bell syndrome) is a genetic disorder that exists on the X chromosome. Because of its location it is more likely to affect males than females, as females have a second X chromosome to make up for the deficiency in the other X chromosome. The condition is usually diagnosed when it becomes clear that a child has developmental delays, trouble with learning things, and/or behavioral issues.

There are many symptoms that those who have Fragile X Syndrome have to deal with for their whole lives, including speech impediments, autism, impulsive behavior, anxiety, hyperactivity, and seizures. This list of symptoms is just a brief example of the potential issues that people with Fragile X syndrome may have to struggle with. Clearly, Fragile X Syndrome can make life difficult, so what help is there?

Learning more about CBD

Before we can talk about the potential benefits of CBD, we need to explain what CBD even is.

CBD is one of over 113 of a specific kind of chemical compound known as a cannabinoid. Cannabinoids are found in abundance in cannabis plants, including hemp and marijuana. Most cannabinoids are virtually unknown to most people, but the two that are famous are CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Cannabinoid fame comes from the effects that they have on people. An important thing to remember is that these effects are different for each of the cannabinoids. THC has a psychoactive effect on its users. That means that it creates the intoxication, normally referred to as a “high,” that is associated with cannabis. CBD does not have a psychoactive effect. It will not get anyone high. It may have some very beneficial effects, which we will cover in the next section.

Because CBD comes from cannabis plants, you may have some questions about its legality. However, that does not need to be a concern. As of late 2018, hemp and hemp-derived products are legal across the United States. This includes CBD products, because most CBD manufacturers use hemp to extract the cannabinoid. This preference for hemp is not just because it is legal and marijuana is still federally illegal (although that does factor in), it is mainly because hemp is bred to have more CBD than THC. In fact, for it to be legally classified as hemp it needs to have less than 0.3% THC content, which is not enough to get anyone high.

Can CBD be used to help manage Fragile X symptoms?

There are many symptoms that those who have Fragile X syndrome have to deal with that CBD cannot do anything for. However, recent studies have suggested that CBD may be able to increase quality of life for those suffering from Martin-Bell syndrome.

One of the effects that CBD is best known for is its ability to help its users achieve a greater sense of calm. This study looked at how CBD may be able to help people with Generalized Social Anxiety Disorder. The researchers concluded that the CBD was greatly able to help soothe the test subjects’ feelings of anxiousness. This study, as well as others, points to CBD’s potential to help create a greater sense of calm. Seeing as people with Fragile X syndrome often struggle with social anxiety, this could be a potential benefit for them.

It is not uncommon for Fragile X syndrome to cause hyperactivity, not unlike Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This study tested CBD in a preclinical ADHD testing model to see if it would help produce calmness. The researchers found that not only did the CBD help reduce hyperactivity, but it did not diminish the rats’ social interactions. This could mean that CBD may be able to help keep hyperactivity to a minimum without having a dulling effect on someone’s personality.

Another area that many researchers have looked at in their studies of CBD, is the cannabinoid’s effect on seizures. One study found that CBD was able to help calm induced seizures in their animal models of the temporal lobe. Another study looked at the effect of CBD on human test subjects that had epilepsy. Seven out of the eight test subjects reported few seizures. These and the many other studies that have been done on CBD and seizures have shown so much promise in this area that the Food and Drug Administration approved the country’s first pure CBD based medication, Epidiolex, which is aimed at reducing seizures. As mentioned above, seizures are a potential side effect of Fragile X syndrome. CBD could offer some potential relief in this area.

As CBD is studied more and better understood, the more potential benefits for those with Fragile X syndrome may make themselves known. For now, even the few aids that CBD has to offer could potentially help people quite a bit.

How to take CBD

If you want to start using CBD to help regulate you or your child’s symptoms of Fragile X syndrome, you have a lot of options. The right kind of CBD product for you or your child depends on personal preferences. Let’s talk about what options there are.

Topicals

This category of CBD products includes things like lotions, cremes, and salves. These products offer a more localized effect. That means that the CBD will not move much beyond where it is applied, as it does not enter the bloodstream. They are not likely to provide the more overall effect that many of the other products may have. This also means that they may not work as well for aiding with achieving a sense of calm or for calming hyperactivity. However, there is not much evidence to say that CBD topicals would not help with those at all, so they may be worth trying.

Tinctures & oils

These CBD products are a bit more basic than most of the other CBD products. They are just CBD extract mixed into a carrier oil, like palm oil. Often, they include essential oils to help with the taste. These products you can mix in with food or drink. But they work best if you use them by placing a drop directly under the tongue. The skin beneath the tongue tends to be thin allowing for the CBD to absorb into the bloodstream more easily. This method allows the CBD to start working more quickly as well. However, oils and tinctures often have an earthy flavor that is not uncommon for cannabis products. As mentioned, many tinctures and oils are made with other oils for flavoring, but if the person taking the CBD is a picky eater, these may not be the best option.

Capsules & tablets

CBD, when made into pill-like products, is usually made into soft gel capsules and sublingual tablets. The soft gel capsules tend to digest quickly, so they get to work fairly rapidly. They are also flexible which makes them easier to swallow. However, there are still many people who struggle with swallowing pills and may have a hard time with the capsules. CBD tablets may be a better option for those who have a hard time with swallowing pills. These you place under your tongue and allow to dissolve. As mentioned above, the skin under the tongue is thin, so the CBD in the tablets enter the system faster.

Edibles

CBD edibles are anything that you eat or drink that has been made with CBD. These are one of the more popular CBD products out there. It is easy to control how much you take, as each serving tends to have the same amount of CBD in it. They also taste great, so if the individual taking the CBD is a picky eater this may be the perfect product for them. The main downside of edibles is that they take the longest to start working out of all of the CBD products.

Fragile X syndrome can be very hard to deal with on a daily basis. It can cause all kinds of complications for those who have the condition and their families. Luckily, there is a lot of help out there, including the potential help offered by CBD. It will not solve all of the issues caused by Fragile X syndrome, but it may be able to help with many.

Topicals fit for Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a fairly common and very uncomfortable skin condition. Those who have it are always looking for good ways to manage it and make themselves more comfortable. There are many potential medications and resources available to psoriasis sufferers, but sometimes these treatments do not work or have unpleasant side effects. The last decade or so of research has suggested that there may be another resource that has yet to be truly tapped into: cannabidiol (CBD).

What is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that creates patches of red, inflamed, itchy, scaly skin. It tends to show up on joints, torso, and/or the scalp. Researchers believe it to be caused by an autoimmune deficiency but are unsure what causes it to start in the first place. Genetics play a role as do environmental conditions, but it is uncertain the exact cause.  While there is no current cure for the condition, psoriasis can go into remission for a time. It tends to come back during flare ups caused by illness or stress.

There are several different forms of the condition (five to be exact), but they all have one important thing in common: they are not fun to deal with.

Getting into the details of CBD

Before we can talk about how CBD may be able to help reduce the discomfort of psoriasis, it is best to be sure that there is a solid understanding of what CBD is.

Found in cannabis plants, like hemp and marijuana, are several chemical compounds known as cannabinoids. So far, scientists have identified over 113 cannabinoids, one of which is CBD.

CBD is definitely one of the better-known cannabinoids, but it is not the most famous. That title goes to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). But why would we talk about THC when this article is about CBD? It is because CBD and THC often get lumped together, leading to many misconceptions about CBD. One big one is that CBD will cause a high. THC has a psychoactive effect, meaning that it causes a high. CBD, on the other hand, is not psychoactive. It does not cause any sort of high.

Another misconception is that CBD is illegal. This one comes, not so much from it being lumped with THC, but more from the fact that THC is extracted from cannabis plants. However, one specific cannabis plant is in fact legal in the United States. This plant is hemp. Its legalization comes mainly from the fact that it is bred to have very little THC (less then 0.3% to be exact). This means that any product derived from hemp is also legal. CBD manufacturers have always used hemp over marijuana because, not only does it have less THC, it also has high levels of CBD.

CBD products come in many different varieties. Most of them are in some sort of oral form, meaning you take them via the mouth. They can be capsules or edibles. Many people prefer tinctures and oils that you just place a drop of in your mouth. One form of CBD product that is not oral are topicals. These are lotions, cremes, and salves that have CBD infused in them. You simply apply these where you want them and wait for the CBD to do its work. The appeal of topicals is that they provide a more localized effect. Oral products are more likely to give you an overall effect. But because the CBD in topicals do not enter the bloodstream, their effect is going to stay in the area that the product is applied.

This is a basic overview of CBD. There is much to know about the cannabinoid and continued research on CBD that is aiding us to a greater understanding of potential health effects.

What CBD topicals work for psoriasis?

First, let’s lay out what CBD may have to offer for those who have psoriasis.

One of the main issues associated with psoriasis is inflammation which causes some of the discomfort. Luckily, CBD is well-known for its potential effect on inflammation. There have been many studies on how CBD reduces inflammation. Many of them, if not all, have shown some very encouraging promise. For example, this study found that CBD was greatly able to bring down intestinal inflammation without unwanted psychoactive effects. This could be promising for those who are trying to deal with the inflammation caused by psoriasis.

While there have not been many studies about CBD and psoriasis specifically, that does not mean that there are not any. This study wanted to see how CBD effects psoriasis. They found that receptors that often interact with CBD seem to have some control over psoriasis flare ups. They found that the CBD was able to help with soothing the psoriasis. This study is still preliminary and there still needs to be more research done, but this study does show that CBD holds a lot of promise.

So, what CBD topicals should you use, if you are interested in using CBD to help with your psoriasis? Well, before you can decide on that you need to discuss it with your healthcare professional. While CBD does not appear to have any serious side effects, it could potentially interact poorly with other medications. It is good to talk to a healthcare professional before starting to use CBD.

Once you have done that, you can start looking for a good CBD topical. The main thing you are going to want to look for is a CBD topical that is made for soothing. Some CBD topicals are made with acne and anti-aging in mind. While those may be able to help, they have different ingredients that may not be what you are looking for. Instead look for topicals like our Soothe CBD salve. It is made with helping with inflammation in mind.

There is a lot out there that CBD may be able to offer people. One of these things may be some relief from the discomfort that psoriasis brings. If you struggle with the condition, it may be worth trying some out to see how it could help you. If you’d like to know more about CBD topicals, click here!

Pain Management Strains

Everyone experiences feelings of discomfort multiple times in their lives. Everyone manages that discomfort in a different way. Some may pop over the counter medication while others may dabble in essential oils in hope of relief.

What other ways are there? Could cannabidiol (more well known as CBD) help? It is a possibility. There are still small amounts of research surrounding CBD in general and topics surrounding it as well. But we have done our best to find the answers that will help our customers move to the next step of their CBD journey. First, we should establish what CBD is as well as what it is not.

What is CBD? What about THC?

CBD or cannabidiol is one of the 113 cannabinoids found in the Cannabis sativa plant. The Cannabis sativa plant varies from marijuana to hemp. Oftentimes, CBD is confused with THC or tetrahydrocannabinol, the component that gives users the feeling of a ‘high’. CBD does not do that. CBD and THC are found together and have some similarities, but, the big difference is that CBD does not have inebriating effects while THC does. This is also the reason that CBD is legal in all 50 states while THC is only legal in a handful.

As of 2018 the hemp plant is legal to grow and sell throughout the states. The Farm Bill has allowed this. For a CBD product to be legally defined as CBD it must have less than 0.3% of THC in it. This is not enough to get one high and is safe for daily use. There are also THC free products available that contain only CBD, or CBD and other cannabinoids that are not THC. You can learn more about THC-free CBD here.

This is also probably why you have been hearing and reading so much about CBD in the last few years. While CBD does not have the inebriating effects, it has been described as being able to provide other effects that may benefit a person’s daily life.

After being extracted from the hemp plant, CBD can be turned into many different forms.

What strains of CBD are there?

When researching CBD, it is likely that you have heard of the term “strains” what is this and what does it mean? Oftentimes when people are speaking of strains, they are likely speaking of the marijuana plant. This is quite a popular topic as there are multiple strains grown for the different kinds of ‘high’ one can feel when marijuana is used. Two popular strains are indica and sativa. However, this does not mean that there are no strains of different hemp plants, but it is less popular as a strain is defined as a strain because of the different amounts of THC and CBD, etc. This is because, like stated before, the reason hemp is legal in all 50 states is because of the very low amount of THC involved. But this does not mean that the variety of CBD available is slim. Here is a break down:

Now that you understand what a strain is and how it correlates to CBD. Read on for the reason you chose to read this article: discomfort management.

Discomfort & CBD

Like we stated before, there is still much to research surrounding CBD and what it may do to benefit your daily life. One of the uses that people are curious about is the easing of discomfort. We have explained what other ways people try to ease discomfort, but, what about CBD? Can that help?

Here at Panacea Life Sciences, we did a study on one of our favorite things (and probably yours too) dogs! We had our subjects, who had osteoarthritis, be administered CBD to see how their mobility would play out. According to the owners their mobility was improved when CBD was used. Osteoarthritis swells the joints of these furry friends. With this increased mobility they were able to run and play with more ease. Therefore, CBD has anti-inflammatory properties that may be associated with discomfort management.

Now you may be saying, “but what about humans?” In this study they found that those who were given the CBD spray rather than the placebo had improvements in discomfort and sleep.

It is important that before you begin the use of CBD to speak with your healthcare provider.

Other Uses of CBD

Now that you know that there is a possible benefit to help easing senses of discomfort with CBD, what else can it do? Here is a list:

What CBD products are available?

Now that we know that uses there are of CBD. What CBD products are available? What products are available to purchase on our website? Read on.

CBD, Strains, and Discomfort

There is still much to learn regarding CBD and what it may or may not do. But we hope that we have shed some light on the subject and that it will help ease your CBD journey. One of our most asked questions is “will CBD get me high?” and we hope we have explained that the answer is no. CBD is legal throughout the states, but, be cautious about where you purchase it. Reputable retailers are of the utmost importance. Strains of CBD are not as far and wide as the strains of the marijuana plant but understanding why is important. There are several different products that are available for purchase.

Easing discomfort is difficult to achieve and a holistic approach may be possible is what we hope you have gained from reading this blog post. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to contact us at [email protected].

What about CBD’s antiseptic properties?

It seems that everywhere you look these days, people are talking about the natural properties of cannabidiol (CBD), and one of the things that keep on coming up is CBD as an antiseptic. Regardless of whether CBD does have any antiseptic properties, it is something work taking a closer look at. In the following article, we will look at some of the studies and research into CBD’s antiseptic properties.

People around the world have been using cannabinoids such as CBD for thousands of years for its potential beneficial properties. It was used in ancient ceremonies and as an ingredient in a variety of traditional medicines. It was only over the last century that we have seen people turn away from cannabis products, but that has all started to change over the last decade.

Could CBD be the natural antiseptic that has been right there in front of us for thousands of years?

Given the current circumstances with COVID-19 and the global pandemic, it is no surprise that people are starting to look for alternative antiseptics and anti-bacterial products. If you are trying to avoid germs and bacteria, then, unfortunately, you are fighting a losing battle. Everywhere in the world, there are germs and bacteria. They are part of the biome that exists around us.

A certain amount of exposure to germs and other bacteria is healthy. It helps to strengthen our immune system, but other bacteria can cause serious health complications and even lead to death. It is not all doom and gloom; however, there are solutions out there that can help to combat bacteria.

All around the world, people use chemical antiseptic creams and lotions, take anti-biotics, and also use antibacterial hand sanitizers and moisturizers every day. While this may help in the short term to fight off harmful bacteria, it can have devastating long-term problems. Not just for individuals, but also people around the world in general.

Overuse of antibiotics and anti-bacterial products around the world to fight off bacteria is causing the bacteria to become resistant to many treatments that were once effective ways to stop bacteria. These ‘superbugs,’ as they are commonly labeled, among the biggest threats to the health of people worldwide. So much so, that the CDC has listed them as a threat and concern requiring a close watch.

What About CBD’s Antiseptic Properties?

Fortunately, if you are concerned about chemical-based antiseptics and anti-bacterial lotions and creams, there could be a more natural solution that has been in front of us this entire time. One of the biggest things holding back modern science from taking a look at CBD was that for the last century, it had been lumped together with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) into the category as a dangerous and illegal narcotic.

This incorrect assumption that CBD is the same as THC the same is, unfortunately, a frequent public opinion, regardless of how wrong it is. Over the last decade, this opinion has slowly changed because of the great work of many CBD companies and their dedication to educating people about what cannabis is and how cannabinoids work.

CBD has been shown through several different studies to have natural antiseptic properties. CBD also has the added benefit of being completely natural. When compared to many other pharmaceutical medications, CBD could be a safer alternative with fewer negative side-effects. That is not to say that CBD does not have any side-effects. Some studies have shown that it could cause drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth, and may have interactions with other medications.

How does CBD work and interact with our bodies?

CBD is a cannabinoid derived from the Cannabis sativa plant family that includes both hemp and marijuana. Most CBD products are made using hemp because it is high in CBD and low in THC.

Cannabidiol (CBD) and other cannabinoids interact with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). It affects the CB1 and CB2 receptors. Interestingly, CBD may reduce many of the negative side-effects, such as nausea, paranoia, and anxiety that are associated with THC. CBD does this by binding with the same receptors as THC and effectively blocking THC from binding as effectively to the receptors.

The ECS is made up of a series of receptors that are spread throughout the body but strongly focused on the brain, the central nervous system, and the immune system. It is because of the way that these receptors are spread throughout the body that CBD has so many versatile delivery methods, including oils, tinctures, edibles, and topicals.

It is believed that the ECS is responsible for maintaining balance and harmony (homeostasis) throughout the body. Our bodies naturally produce endocannabinoids, and even if you have never tried cannabis, you have an ECS. When something is functioning correctly, endocannabinoids, and cannabinoids such as CBD, send a signal to the cells to trigger the correct responses to help restore balance and harmony.

Endocannabinoids and cannabinoids are like the eyes and ears of the cells inside our bodies. They are constantly monitoring what is happening and taking action to correct things when they get out of order.

Could CBD be a natural cure for drug-resistant bacteria?

One of the deadliest bacteria that are encountered by doctors around the world is drug-resistant MRSA. However, there have been some exciting and very promising studies on the effectiveness of CBD’s ability to fight MSRA. This is extremely exciting because many traditional antibiotics have failed to fight off MSRA successfully.

MSRA is a strong bacterium that is highly resistant to many traditional antibiotics. It can then spread out of control throughout the body and lead to life-threatening infections and, ultimately, in severe circumstances, even death. It is because of this that scientists around the world have been looking for effective ways to combat MRSA.

A group of British and Italian researchers has had a lot of success using CBD to kill MSRA bacteria in laboratory conditions effectively. They utilized extracts from five different cannabinoids and then applied these extracts to six strains of MRSA. During these studies, they found that cannabinoids could be as effective or even more effective than many traditional antibiotics at killing MRSA.

It is great to see that scientists are finally starting to consider the natural properties of CBD and that their research is no longer being restricted because of marijuana being classified as a narcotic. Many CBD companies around the world are strongly focused and dedicated to promoting the natural healing properties of CBD and other cannabinoids, as well as educating people on the differences between the two main cannabinoids CBD and THC.

Cannabis products such as CBD products have come a very long way in a very short time. However, there is still a lot more research that needs to be conducted, and part of that research is education about the potential benefits of CBD and other cannabinoids.

CBD antiseptic properties conclusion

Despite the fact that CBD is showing potential natural anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties, there is still a lot more research and studies that need to be done before we can start rolling out CBD antiseptic products on supermarket shelves.

We have taken a lot of time looking through a variety of different studies that have shown a positive outlook for CBD and its ability to be a natural and safer antiseptic than many chemical products on the market. It also has the benefit of being 100% natural. There are no pharmaceutical additives or chemicals. It isn’t mixed in a laboratory somewhere using who knows what chemicals. You can learn more about the safety concerns of making CBD here.

As more countries change their attitude, laws, and regulations regarding cannabis products such as CBD, we are going to see more and more of these studies being conducted into the potential natural benefits of cannabinoids such as CBD.

If you have any questions about the antiseptic properties of CBD or would like to share your experiences with CBD, then please do not hesitate to let us know. We love to hear feedback from people that have had positive experiences with this natural product. You can email us at [email protected]

The FDA and CBD

There are many hurdles to overcome when one is looking at Cannabidiol (CBD). There is the stigma surrounding CBD, misconceptions and the unknown. There are many aspects of CBD that are unknown and that is one of the reasons why the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) has not completely approved CBD for widespread use. That is why we here at Panacea Life Sciences are committed to give the most up-to-date information surrounding our products and CBD in general. This article will help guide you through the different CBD and FDA subjects that should be understood before purchasing CBD.

What is the FDA? What is the importance of it?

The first thing people want to know is, what is the FDA doing to work toward answers surrounding thoughts on CBD? In this article they go into detail about what they are working toward. The FDA wants people to understand what CBD is and what it is not (much like us). Unfortunately, there are many CBD companies that make huge claims that are just not true. This article explains the potential harmful effects that CBD may or may not have on people that use it.

Some of these harmful effects include liver failure, it may affect other medications that you are using, using CBD along with alcohol or other medications may slow brain function, among other risks it may have. The FDA also warns users of certain side-effects that could be potentially harmful. Then they list questions that are not answered and have not been researched extensively to give any type of information on it.

The FDA is here to keep us all safe and that is just what they are working toward doing. It is important to note that there is still so much to learn about CBD. If you decide to begin your journey with CBD, make sure to pick the right product for you. It is also imperative to start off small and slowly increase the amount you use to make sure that there are no side effects for you personally. Always consult a doctor before beginning the use of CBD to make sure it will not have effects on the medication that you are using.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol or more well known as CBD is one of the 113 cannabinoids found in the Cannabis sativa plant. The Cannabis sativa plant is also known as the marijuana plant as well as the hemp plant. Yes, they are similar, but not the same thing.

The marijuana plant has much higher percentages of THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol. This is one of the more well-known cannabinoids found in these plants because of the inebriating effects caused by THC ingestion. CBD and THC are often confused with one another, but that is simply not correct. THC is not legal in all 50 states while CBD is legal across the country.

CBD does not have the effects that gets users “high”, but it has many other potential benefits regarding health. In the 2018 Farm Bill it gave permission to farmers across America to grow and sell the hemp plant. The hemp plant, unlike the marijuana plant, has high amounts of CBD and must have .3% or less of THC to be deemed a CBD product. This .3% is low enough that it will not cause the “high” people describe when using marijuana derived products. However, there are some states that have legalized the use of THC for medical and even recreational purposes.

But we are talking about CBD here. What does the FDA have to say about this interesting cannabinoid?

Types of CBD

There are several different types of CBD that can start your CBD journey. Here are a few:

CBD Uses

Now that you know what types of CBD products are available, what are people using them for? Here is a list:

FDA Approved CBD Products

The uses and products above are not FDA approved. They are still being researched, but there are CBD products that are FDA approved. Believe it or not, they are all for medical use. Epidiolex is one of the CBD FDA approved medications. This medication assists those who have one of these two severe types of epilepsy: Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. This drug helps control the seizures in these people.

Marinol (dronabinol), Syndros (dronabinol), and Cesamet (nabilone) are also FDA approved medications that contain CBD. These are CBD and THC blended medications generally used for cancer patients to decrease nausea caused by cancer-fighting medication, or pain associated with spasticity in Multiple Sclerosis patients. These approved drug products are only available with a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

What to watch for when purchasing CBD:

There are certain things that the FDA warns people of while looking at CBD products. We want you to know these things so that you may enjoy your CBD experience and be as knowledgeable as possible.

CBD retailers that make claims without having human or animal clinical studies linked to them are not reputable. It is important to understand what to look for when purchasing a CBD product. Unproven claims are one of them. If a CBD retailer does not include a list of ingredients, turn away. There could be unknown chemicals that could harm you. The processes at which the CBD is extracted from the hemp plant could also be harmful. Understanding the processes that are available is important. There are several different types of processing as well.

We here at Panacea Life Sciences make sure that our CBD is tested in house as well as a third-party testing. We test for potency, toxins, microbes, terpene, and solvents to ensure the highest quality of our natural CBD products.

CBD and the FDA

There are several things that still need to be learned regarding CBD and we are committed to give the most up-to-date information to our customers. Key points in this article are: if a CBD company makes claims without proper follow-up information, they are not reputable. The FDA has not approved all CBD products. If you want to start using CBD always start with a lower amount and gently increase it over time. Stay safe. Where to find CBD pills and oil

As cannabidiol has gained in recognition and popularity over the last few years, so have the questions surrounding it. One big question that is out there is one that is actually rather easy to answer. Many people are wondering where they can get high-quality CBD oils and pills.

CBD: a brief overview

Before we dive into where to find good CBD products, let’s define it.

CBD is a chemical compound known as a cannabinoid. These are compounds that are found in Cannabis plants like hemp ad marijuana. Researchers so far have identified 113 cannabinoids and they are likely to find even more.

While CBD is definitely well-known, there is another cannabinoid that is even more famous. That cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This cannabinoid is so well-known because it is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in Cannabis plants. That means it is the chemical that creates the high so often associated with Cannabis. CBD gets grouped together with THC a lot. As a result, many think that CBD is also psychoactive. However, that is a mistake. CBD does not create any high. If that has been a concern of yours, no worries.

CBD comes in a lot of different products. Some of the more popular are topicals and edibles. Topicals are lotions and cremes that are infused with CBD. They are essentially CBD that you rub on your skin. Edibles are food or drink that have been made with CBD. These are popular because they taste good and are easy to take. But pills and oils are some of the more common forms of CBD that you will find. Oils are the more “traditional” version. They are CBD extract mixed with a carrier oil (like palm oil) and, often, some flavoring too. You can mix them with food or drop some directly into your mouth. CBD pills usually come in the form of either soft gel capsules or tablets. The soft gels are easy to swallow and start working rather quickly. Tablets are usually dissolvable. You place them under your tongue and allow them to disappear, no need for swallowing.

How to find quality CBD pills and oils

Finding CBD oils and pills is not hard. At the moment the internet is crawling with all kinds of CBD manufacturers. CBD products are in most health stores and pharmacies. So, you should have no difficulty in finding a few places to buy from. But there are some things you should consider.

The CBD industry is a young one. While the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has implemented guidelines and restrictions, these are still developing. So, it can be a little intimidating to try and find high-quality CBD products. However, there are ways to make sure that you find a great product at a reasonable price.

The main thing that you need to be willing to do to find good CBD pills and oils is research. This is not as complicated as it sounds. A lot of it is just reading reviews. Read reviews about both the company and the product you are interested in. You many even want to read reviews about the company’s other products, to help give you a more overall idea of what kind of quality their CBD is. Be sure to read reviews from third party sites as well as the company’s site. This way you avoid potential bias within the comments.

After you have read some reviews, it is also a good idea to research a bit about the company that you are buying from. A trustworthy CBD manufacturer will be transparent about their extraction process. They will also have their products tested by a third party and be transparent about that as well. This does not require digging. If they are going to be open about it, it should be easy to find on their website.

The next thing to consider about a CBD product is the price. CBD products are going to be a bit more expensive than their non-CBD counterparts. This is because they require extra work. However, there are some manufacturers who take advantage of that. They charge overly high prices because they think they can get away with it. A high price does not always mean high quality. Meanwhile, on the other end of the scale, if the price of a CBD product seems too good to be true, it probably is. If a CBD product is really cheap, it is not likely to be as good of a product as some others. When looking for CBD pills and oils, it is best to find ones that are priced somewhere in the middle.

How much CBD is the right amount?

This question can be a little tough to answer. This is because there is no one set answer. Everyone experiences CBD a little bit differently. Some people require a lot to notice any sort of effect, others may find their limit rather quickly.

It is best to know what your limit is in order to avoid unpleasant side effects. There are not many side effects associated with CBD and they are not serious, but they are still not something you will want to experience. They may include things like diarrhea and dizziness. Those are things you likely would want to avoid, so how do you do it?

The main thing to know is that these side effects are normally associated with taking too much of the cannabinoid. So, to avoid them, you need to be sure that you are not taking to much. To figure that out, you need to be willing to do some experimentation. Start the amount that you take small and wait and see how it sits with you. You can learn more about what CBD feels like here. With pills this may be one pill or even half of a pill (if it is not a soft gel capsule). With oils, this will likely be just one drop. If you do not experience any negative side effects, but still are not getting your desired effect, you can up the amount you take.

As mentioned before, the internet and many health stores are crawling with CBD products, so it should not be too difficult to find one that works for you. That being said, there is no real need to go searching. Here on the Panacea Life Sciences site, we have CBD oils, tinctures, soft gel capsules, and tablets. All of them have been tested by a third party and are of the highest quality. Why not check them out? Check out some of our CBD capsules in the shop!

USA vs UK for CBD standards

Cannabidiol (CBD) is now legal in the United States. This means that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is starting to set rules and standards for the CBD industry. That is all well and fine for Americans, but what is going on across the pond. What kind of CBD standards are there for the United Kingdom?

Going over CBD Standards

If you are heading into CBD as a newbie, it can seem a little overwhelming and intimidating. So, it is best to start with some of the basics. Specifically, defining what CBD actually is.

CBD is a cannabinoid. That is a chemical compound found in Cannabis plants, plants like hemp and marijuana. There are a lot of cannabinoids out there. In fact, there are 113 of them found in Cannabis plants. There is a rather famous cannabinoid that you likely have heard of. That is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

THC is so well-known because it is the cannabinoid that has a psychoactive effect. That means that it creates the high that is so often associated with Cannabis. It is important to note and remember that CBD does not have any psychoactive effects; it does not make you high.

CBD manufacturers normally extract their CBD from hemp, rather than marijuana. The main reason for this that hemp has much higher levels of CBD than THC. Marijuana, on the other hand, has high levels of THC. Since most CBD products have little to no THC in them, higher levels of THC would make extracting the right amount of CBD difficult.

As CBD has gained in popularity, the number of studies on it have increased. These studies have had some interesting findings. For example, this study found that CBD was able to help sooth test subjects that were about to engage in a stressful activity (public speaking). This and other studies suggest that CBD may be able to help create a greater sense of calm. Other studies, like this one, have found CBD is helpful for calming epileptic seizures. These are just a couple of examples of the research being done on CBD. There is a lot more out there suggesting that CBD may be able to help with many issues.

Now that we have a better idea of what CBD is, let’s go over how it is regulated in the United States and the United Kingdom.

CBD in the USA

Cannabis, in all of its forms, was federally illegal in the United States for a long time. This changed in 2018 when the Legislature passed what is known as the Farm Bill (we talk about this bill in deeper detail in this article). This is a bill that gets passed every five years and effects all things agricultural. This time around the bill included something that had never been included before; it legalized industrial hemp.

To be more specific, it defines hemp as Cannabis that has less than 0.3% THC content. As mentioned above, hemp not only has low levels of THC, but it also has high levels of CBD. This meant that the 2018 Farm Bill was a big deal to those interested in CBD. It made the plant with a lot of the cannabinoid more accessible to the public.

That does not mean that people can sell and make CBD products with impunity. There are regulations. However, the industry is new enough that the FDA is still working on those regulations. As of right now, they are depending on the manufacturers to do proper testing to ensure their product is safe. For example, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has released a report saying that synthetic CBD has some real potential dangers. As a result, most manufacturers only use organic CBD and test to be sure that there are no synthetic materials in their product.

It is important for CBD manufacturers and users to pay attention to any news the FDA may release on CBD, as the regulations start to really take shape. The FDA does have one approved CBD-derived medication called Epidiolex which is for the treatment of certain seizure disorders.

CBD in the UK

The Food Standards Agency (FSA), the British equivalent of the FDA, is in the process of trying to layout their own guidelines for CBD. This has involved CBD manufacturers submitting their products for authorization. Once it is authorized, the product can be sold by the company submitting it of approval. Some of the main requirements for authorization include being a safe product and not making misleading claims to the consumer.

The FSA has yet to authorize any CBD products. This is main because it has only just recently started this process. In early 2019 CBD earned the classification of being a “novel food.” This means that it is new enough for there to be a need for studies to understand it properly.

Those looking to sell CBD products in the United Kingdom need to apply for authorization by the end of March 2021. If they do not apply by then, their product can no longer be on the market.

What to look for in a CBD manufacturer

This is a reasonable thing to wonder about, as the CBD industry is still in the process of trying to be regulated. But it is not difficult to avoid the sketchy CBD manufacturers, you just have to be willing to read.

Any CBD manufacturer worth your time will be open about their extracting process. They should have it somewhere on their website. They should also test their products through a third party. This way there is not a bias within their testing. If a manufacturer’s website does not include information about that, you may want to avoid them.

The other thing to look for is reviews. This includes ones on their site and on other third-party sites. This way you get a better idea of what others have experienced with their products. If you only read reviews on their site, you may not get the full picture. They might keep negative reviews from being posted on their site.

You should also check to see if their CBD is organic. As mentioned before, synthetic CBD can be dangerous. Trustworthy manufactures will have organic CBD extract.

All of this research does take some time to do, however it is worth it to be sure that you are not only getting a quality product, but a safe one as well.

Available CBD products

CBD is a very versatile extract. As a result, there are many different options out there for people to pick from. Let’s go through what ones are out there and what benefits they have, starting with the kinds of CBD.

Full-spectrum

Different kinds of CBD extract depend on what other things are in the extract with the CBD. Full-spectrum has the most other things in the extract. It has all of the other compounds and cannabinoids that come out of the hemp plant with the CBD. This includes THC. However, full-spectrum only has 0.3% THC content (as talked about in a section above), which is not enough to get anyone high.

Broad-spectrum

This version of CBD is similar to full-spectrum. It has one big difference though. It does not have any THC. It has pretty much every other cannabinoid and compound found in hemp, but THC is not one of them. The appeal of this and full-spectrum is a thing called the entourage effect. It is when compounds work together to create a stronger effect (we have an article that goes into deeper detail about the entourage effect here). Broad-spectrum gives people the opportunity for the entourage effect without the worry of a potential (but very unlikely) high from the THC.

CBD isolate

CBD isolate is how it sounds. It is CBD extract with nothing else in it. It is the purest version of CBD extract that you can find. CBD isolate provides you with a clearer CBD experience without the presence of the other compounds. However, it may not be as strong as the others.

Now that we have those covered, let’s go over what products you can find these kinds of CBD in.

Oils and tinctures

CBD oils and tinctures are the more traditional product for the cannabinoid. These are CBD extract mixed with a carrier oil, like palm oil for example. You have a couple options for taking these. You can mix some in with food or drink and take it that way. You can also put a few drops under your tongue and let the CBD absorb into your system from there.

Edibles

These are one of the more popular CBD products. They can be anything from candy to bread. Edibles are so popular because they are easy to take and taste good. The one thing to understand is that CBD edibles take a while for the CBD to start working, as they need to digest before the CBD can enter your system.

Capsules and tablets

CBD soft gel capsules and tablets are another common form of CBD product. Soft gels are similar to other pills; however, they are easier to swallow. They also may start working faster than other pills. Tablets are a bit different. These you normally take by letting them dissolve under your tongue. These also start working faster than regular pills.

Topicals

These are products like lotions and cremes. They are products that are better for more localized uses than for a more overall effect, which is what you may get from an oral product. They are used by rubbing some of the topical on the preferred area. The CBD will absorb there, but not move much beyond it.

This is just a general list what is out there. In order to find the right kind of CBD product for you may take a few tries.

How to figure out the right amount for you

There is no set amount of CBD that is the right amount for everyone. This is because everyone reacts to CBD a little bit differently. Since there are some negative side effects that come with taking too much.

These side effects are not necessarily serious. They tend to include things like nausea, fatigue and dizziness. They are not anything life threatening. But they are not fun to deal with. That is why it is so important to figure out how much CBD is the right amount for you.

The best way to do it is slowly. Start out your dosage small. After you take it, wait for a little while and see how it sits with you. It is good to remember that some products take longer to start working than others. If you are taking one of those products, be sure to give it enough time to start before you try taking any more. If the amount you take sits well with you but still does not provide you with the results you are looking for, then you can try taking more.

This process takes time. You will need to be patient to be sure that you do not have to deal with any negative side effects. This also does not mean that you should take the CBD until you get the side effects. Once you find the lowest amount that gives you your sought-after result, then you know your cut off.

Only recently have we started to understand the benefits that CBD may offer. As a result, many countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, are still trying to find the best ways to regulate and control it. Most likely, we will see these regulations and standards change a fair amount over the next few years. This is all for the benefit of consumers and making sure they are not being taken advantage of.

Approaching CBD can be intimidating. Luckily, we at Panacea Life Sciences are here to help you. We have a plethora of articles answering any questions you may have about CBD. We also have many high-quality CBD products. These are great for any CBD novice or savant. Our site also gives you a chance to contact a member of the Panacea Life Sciences. The Endocannabinoid System and Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a fairly common condition. It can make things very difficult for those who have it. As of right now, there is no cure for it. This means that many of those who have it are always looking for ways to cope with the condition. Recent research has suggested that there may be help in an unexpected place: cannabidiol (CBD). CBD engages the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) to create homeostasis in the body. This can be a boon for those suffering from Fibromyalgia.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

As we start talking about what effect CBD may have on fibromyalgia, we need to cover some of the basics. For example, we need to explain what exactly the Endocannabinoid System is and what it does.

The Endocannabinoid System is a series of receptors throughout the body. Researchers are still trying to understand how exactly it works. However, they do have a good idea of what exactly it does. The Endocannabinoid System effects and/or controls a number of different functions in the body. These include appetite, mood, inflammation, sleep and cognitive functions (like memory for example), among many other things.

There are two main kinds of receptors that are within the Endocannabinoid System. One is CB1, which deals with the central nervous system. The other is called CB2, it controls things within the peripheral nervous system, including immune cells.

The whole point of the Endocannabinoid System is to help keep homeostasis, the state that your body prefers to be in. When something throws your body out of whack, that is when the Endocannabinoid System kicks it. It works its magic on the several different functions that it interacts with and helps get your body back on track.

As you can tell, there are many conditions that may be affected by the Endocannabinoid System. Fibromyalgia may be one of them.

What is fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a genetic condition that is often triggered by some sort of physical trauma or surgery. It may cause some musculoskeletal pain, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome and, even, anxiety. Clearly it has the potential of making life difficult for people who have it.

While we do know what may trigger the condition and may cause it to flare up, it is not clear what is the exact cause of fibromyalgia. It does appear that fibromyalgia is genetic, as those who are diagnosed with it often have a relative with the condition as well. Fibromyalgia tends to be more common in women than in men. Often people with chronic conditions like arthritis and lupus are more likely to be diagnosed with it as well.

As mentioned above there is currently no cure for this. However, there are some ways to help coping. Exercise is among these coping mechanisms. This is because regular exercise may be able to help with pain. However, it is best for those with fibromyalgia to not go crazy with the exercise. Too much may cause it to flare up. So, as with all things exercise is best in moderation.

Another way that people use to deal with fibromyalgia is by reducing stress. This is because stress may make it flare up as well. Some use meditation. Others use deep breathing. Of course, there is a compound out there that may have calming properties, among other uses.

Where does CBD fit in with all of this?

First, let’s start with explaining what CBD is. CBD is a chemical compound known as a cannabinoid. These are compounds found in Cannabis plants, like hemp and marijuana. These are the compounds that interact with the Endocannabinoid System. There are over 113 of these compounds found in the plants. This includes a cannabinoid that you probably have heard of, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

We should go through the difference between THC and CBD. The big thing to understand about these two is that THC is psychoactive. This means that it gives people the high that is so commonly associated with Cannabis. CBD, on the other hand, is not psychoactive. It does not make people high. It may, however, help people achieve a greater sense of calm.

The way that CBD interacts with the Endocannabinoid System is the reason why it has an effect of fibromyalgia. There are several studies that have looked at a number of different effects that CBD may have on different conditions. There have also been some that have looked specifically at fibromyalgia.

For example, this study wanted to look at the connection between fibromyalgia and the Endocannabinoid System. The researchers found that there does appear to be a real connection between the two. This means that cannabinoids (like CBD) could very well be a potential help for those with the condition.

When you look beyond the studies on fibromyalgia and look at what else CBD has to offer, it is easy to see that CBD may have the ability to help with many of the symptoms associated with the condition.

This study, for example, looked at CBD and irritable bowel syndrome (a potential side effect of fibromyalgia, if you recall). The study concluded that CBD was able to help reduce intestinal inflammation. This meant that it was able to help with the irritable bowel syndrome.

Many studies have looked at how CBD affects a person’s state of mind. Two potential side effects of fibromyalgia are depression and anxiety. This study looked at how CBD may be able to help users reach a greater state of calm and potentially boost their mood as well. The results of the study were very promising, finding that CBD was very useful in helping people with their moods and states of mind.

How to take CBD

When it comes to taking CBD, you have many options. CBD extract is versatile and is easily mixed in with any number of products. Anyone can find the right product for them. But before we get into those, let’s go over why it is important to know your CBD limit.

CBD does not appear to have any serious side effects. However, that does not mean that it does not have any. There are some minor side effects that are associated with it. They tend to include things like mild nausea and fatigue. They are not serious, but they still are not fun. These side effects also tend to be associated with taking too much CBD. So, it is best to approach CBD slowly. If you start the initial amount of CBD small and then build it up, you are more likely to avoid the negative side effects.

Now that we have covered that bit, let’s talk about your CBD options.

Most CBD products are oral products. There are several different kinds, but let’s start with the more “traditional” kind of CBD product: oils and tinctures. They are CBD extracts either mixed with a carrier oil (like palm oil) or a small amount of ethanol that is part of the original extracting process. There are a couple of different ways you can take an oil or a tincture. One way is by mixing them in with your food or drink. The other way is by putting a few drops either directly into your mouth or by placing those drops under your tongue. The under-the-tongue method is the faster way to take the CBD, as the skin under your tongue tends to be thin. This makes it easier for the CBD to absorb into your bloodstream.

Another kind of oral CBD product is tablets and capsules. These are pill-like products. There are soft gel capsules. They are like pills, but are more flexible and, therefore, easier to swallow. Soft gels tend to work much more quickly than regular pills.  Tablets tend to be the dissolvable kind. You place them under your tongue and let them dissolve there.

The other kind of oral CBD product is edibles. These are exactly as they sound. They are CBD products that you either eat or drink. The most common kind are gummies. However, there are many other kinds out there. They vary from candies to pastas. There are also CBD drinks, like tea and soda. The appeal of these is that they taste good and are easy to include into your daily routine. The downside is that they do take a little while to start working. This means that it is easy to take too much. So, it is best to be careful with edibles.

Of course, there are also some non-oral CBD products. These are topicals. They are things like lotion and cremes. They are not as likely to give you an overall effect like the oral products might. Topicals are more likely to have a localized effect, meaning that the CBD may not move much beyond where the product is applied.

CBD products may be able to help provide relief for those who are struggling with fibromyalgia. As more research is done on this, the more we will understand the benefit that it may be able to provide. It is exciting to think about what we will learn.
